Daryl Orage
President
President
Daryl Orage is a farmer, the owner of Papa Brown Farms, an agricultural advocate and President of the South Carolina Black Farmers Coalition. He is committed to strengthening Black agriculture throughout South Carolina. With a passion for farmer education, resource access, and community development, he works to connect producers with opportunities that support sustainable growth and generational success. Through his leadership, Daryl continues to champion equity, collaboration, and the preservation of Black farming heritage across the state.

Keisha Rainey

Vice President
Keisha Rainey is a Food Systems Leader, agricultural advocate, and Founder of Roots & Rain and Vice President of the South Carolina Black Farmers Coalition. Since 2019, she has worked across South Carolina’s agricultural sector, supporting farmers, strengthening local food systems, and advancing food access initiatives. Through Roots & Rain, Keisha is dedicated to helping organizations, women, and historically impacted farmers grow their agricultural footprint while cultivating meaningful community impact.

Cecelia Miller

Cecelia Miller is the Founder of CoffeeLady31 and Thadora Farms and serves as Treasurer of the South Carolina Black Farmers Coalition. A passionate farmer, herbalist, and agricultural advocate, she is dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture, wellness, and food sovereignty. Through her businesses and community leadership, Cecelia works to connect people with locally grown products, agricultural education, and opportunities that strengthen Black farmers and rural communities across the Carolinas.
The Seeds That we SOW
Advocacy and Representation:
We actively advocate for policies that address the unique challenges faced by Black farmers, striving for equity and inclusion in agricultural programs and decision-making processes; and collaborate with a variety of local, state, and federal partners to achieve our mission.
Resource Hub:
Our coalition serves as a central resource hub, connecting Black farmers with essential information, funding opportunities, and support networks to strengthen their agricultural enterprises.
Education and Training:
Empowering the next generation of Black farmers is at the core of our work. We offer educational programs, training sessions, and workshops to enhance skills, share knowledge that promote sustainable and profitable farm business practices.
Community Building:
We foster a sense of community among Black farmers through networking events, social gatherings, and collaborative initiatives. Building strong connections within the farming community is vital to our collective success.
Sustainable Farming:
We promote farming practices that amplify our historical African American agricultural expertise and heritage, prioritize harmonious relationships with the natural environment, restore and respect natural resources.
